The marketing people want to mold the content, the advertising people are afraid of losing control of it, and management is old and out of touch with the concept. Blog, you say?

They have come up with one policy on blogs though, if you have a personal one, you're not allowed to talk about the company by name or reference. And if you do, it had better be sparkling or you should be prepared to either edit the content or fall on that sword.

Re: 4 Reasons Every Company Needs to Blog

@Aidan: hey, not a problem, I'm glad you're doing fine being all busy. Pop in whenever you like. Oh, and don't forget: this goes for groups or organizations too. Does your college have a blog? Your science group? The football team? All the same issue, I believe.

@Daniel: true, I never even considered those. You know, this isn't new what I'm saying here. Plenty of books have been written about it already. It's just the amount of people who still haven't paid attention that made me write this.

@Hrafn: hehe.

Re: 4 Reasons Every Company Needs to Blog

No, they’re the kind of people that chisel stone tools and live in a cage. Get a grip.

Haha.

Re: 4 Reasons Every Company Needs to Blog

I was just thinking something along these lines this afternoon, except even more basic: every company needs a Web site. I just cannot fathom being a business owner in the twenty-first century, and not having a Web site, and yet, I struck out twice today looking up businesses. Incredible, really.

Re: 4 Reasons Every Company Needs to Blog

First of all apologies for not being around for a while - I've been rather busy to say the least.

Great advice Nils, even though I don't plan on setting up a business any time soon, the advice offered is great!

You're true in what you say about keeping (potential) customers up to date because as you touched on I hate nothing more than a site with no regular updates on, at least with a blog you can keep in touch and show the customers that you're still there if you get me!

But yeah, excellent advice and a good post to read on my re-entry to checking my regular blogs ;-) .
