Dotcomslashblog: Best Blog Or Not, Just Keep At It

  • Aidan L · 3 years ago
Its great to see that your blog has been regarded as, and I quote, “one of the finest blogs on WordPress.” I have only been reading your blog for a few weeks, probably about 2-3 now, but in those few weeks I have seen some great pieces of writing and blogging. I enjoy reading it hence why I signed up to your feed :).

I see the bit about "Three month wonders". Well, I do hope that’s not me! I am just into my second month blogging and so far I have been enjoying it, I plan to continue blogging for the foreseeable, not just because I would hate to fall into that category of "Three month wonders" but purely because I enjoy it. One problem that I have come across in my short time of blogging is what to write about as sometimes I don’t have a clue! But that happens to everyone I suppose.

Continue the good work on your blog, I look forward to your future entries!

I've been a three month wonder twice already in the past 3 or so years, but my current stint seems to be going strong!
  • Adem · 3 years ago
I think in my blogging history (since May 2004), I've had 2 times when I've almost given up and abandoned it. I'm glad I haven't and try and keep regularly blogging although the majority of my posts are very short and not very creative.

At least I'm still going. And get to meet lots of people while I'm at it.

Well done for the Blog of the Day award.

I have to agree with everyone else I only found your blog through Atariboy/Teabass and got involved in reading it at least once a day so its cool that you have been regarded out there as one of the best...keep up the good work :)

    Nice dude.

I appreciate your advice to new bloggers. I hope to break the "three month wonder" barrier myself and make this a long-term hobby. I do it for love. There's certainly no money in it! :)
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Thanks Aidan, I really appreciate that. Don't forget: some of those three month blogs aren't even wonders ;-) but I think, from what little I've read so far, that you stand a fair chance of 'succeeding' – whatever that means in blogging terms, eh. I'll be popping over to yours btw because of that latest post of yours.

Hi Nosugrefneb (wow, what a nick!), thanks for commenting. I guess 'having it in you' to keep at it can show itself in many guises. I've had a few trial and errors before this, so yeah, looks like you're doing well.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Thanks Adem. I think you're doing fine. Short is good, but not that easy. I for one fail miserably at short posts all the time. Not creative? Dunno about that. Even posting a link to a YouTube video is never entirely random. It says something about you. I feel like I know you better through those short peeks at what interests you, than you might know me with my endless laments ;-)

Hey Damien, I think I got to you through Andrew as well. I love Rapnix and think it looks great at that, but I was under the impression you switched off comments there for a while. At least it seemed that way, when I click from Google Reader to get to your posts. But checking back now, that doesn't seem to be the case. Mm... And 'one of the best', well, I'm considered 'noteworthy', that's something else altogether still ;-)
  • Nils · 3 years ago
    Thanks mate. ;-)

Hey Penseroso (good name that, amazing it wasn't snapped up earlier), thanks for dropping by and commenting. Well, if it's for love, that sounds good. No money involved here either. Looks good, your blog, and I'm going to check it out some more.
  • AndrewE · 3 years ago
Nils, I'm hardly surprised, it's a great show you put on here. From the start I could sense the extra mile you go to in writing and presentation. I'm a big fan of the Tarski theme too. It's clean and easy. Keep up the good work!
  • penseroso · 3 years ago
Thanks again, Nils. I remember studying Milton in college. "Il Penseroso" was one of my favorites. The other candidate for a blog moniker was "Samson Agonistes", but that seemed a bit much. :)

Congrats Nils - this is so very fitting. The recognition is well-deserved. Celebrating with you friend.

    Keep creating,
    Mike

Congrats Nils! I need to remind myself to come here more often.
  • litlove · 3 years ago
Well, haven't I been saying it all along? It's a big web out there, and it takes a while for blogs to filter through to the attention of enough people to gain recognition, but the good ones rise to the top, as you have just perfectly exemplified.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Thank you Andrew. I'm flattered. Obviously, not being a native speaker of English, I have to be more careful perhaps than others. Maybe that helps in how my writing is perceived? And yes, I owe a lot to Ben and Chris for Tarksi. It's the first time I've really felt at ease with a template. It's so beautiful.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
    Thanks Mike! I will.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Hey, you're always welcome. I'd be happy to have you as a visitor sometimes.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Thanks Litlove. I think we can easily say you've made quite the spot for yourself too, no? If I got anywhere now, it's only because of loyal readers and good blog friends like yourself – and unlike you, I don't even know what it is I'm talking about half the time ;-)

"I’m very flattered by the kind words of Bloglily who calls NDNL 'one of the finest blogs on WordPress.'"

NDNL IS one of the finest blogs on WordPress, why else do you think I read it? ;-)

PS: I'm in 9rules! Check the round 5 announcements.
  • Nils · 3 years ago
Lol, thanks mate. I appreciate it.

9rules eh? Congratulations. But, hey, I thought we were elitist? Oh, wait, you never said that was a bad thing of course. ;-)
