Dotcomslashblog: Microsoft and Yahoo Made My Day

Will you really shift over from Flickr? I was slightly peturbed when Yahoo took over Flickr and thought that they might try and have too much influence over it, but apart from having to use a yahoo login I can't really say I've seen too much differennce... which is nice. Of course, if Microsoft in turn took over Yahoo then I will again have my doubts. Will I then have to have an MS login? What changes will they want to make?

I can't see them being a 'silent partner' which would ruin a great photosite.

Damn! Just remembered (how could I forget?!) that I have my main personal email account with Yahoo! Sh*t! Save me from Hotmail hell!

Flickr already lost a bit of its appeal when Yahoo merged its Yahoo Pics (or whatever it was called) with Flickr. But you're right, generally Flickr didn't become a shit site all of a sudden.

I'm waiting for Google to take over Zoomr now. I never liked Zoomr that much either, but that would make me switch like that.

Right now, I'm not so sure. Could be a year or more still before we notice anything, but it did strike me that the fear of Flickr becoming another MSN monstrosity is something I'm not alone in. And yes, when that would happen, I'd go — and a lot of others too I think.

Creating a Yahoo login for my Flickr was enough of a hassle for me to notice it, so by my standards that's too much of an impact. If I have to go back to an MSN login for anything I may just give
    up the internet altogether.

Great comic...extremely relevant. And that makes me sad.

What I don't understand is why M$ thinks that we actually want them to content with Google. At least google get things right even if they are a scary company but M$ are asshats with shit software and if they are losing a grip on the market well all I can say is good riddance...

Next thing you know they will ramming stupid meta tags down our throats saying the web will break because they are incompetant... really? I thought if I built websites properly then they should *work* no matter what browser they are renedered in only some render slightly different from others...

Oh no... I am gonna go before I start to rant ;-)

    Take it easy Nils
