Dotcomslashblog: New Flanders Logo But Is It Any Good?

  • Frits · 3 years ago
What is it with all these international sort of trademarks..

I think it's not good. "Flanders fits you" isn't really inviting to make you plan a holiday or so.

Neither is the campaign of Amsterdam, "I Amsterdam", but because it's more simple, it's better imo.

I don't know. I look at it and think, "Wow, what a mess. Hope I don't have to clean it up!" It just looks like a jumbled heap, and the colours don't speak of strength to me at all (brighter, vibrant ones would). Obviously the panel of "foreign experts" did not include any designers.

I don't think it's a mess at all. However, my one criticism would be towards the choice of colors. While they certainly are more current, they are also more "trendy" and likely to become unfashionable in the near future. Perhaps the use of more standard colors (which I am certainly NOT qualified to suggest) that can stand the test of time would have been more appropriate.

As an example of what I mean, look at the olive-green color used for kitchen appliances in the 70's, not to mention the turquoise wall treatments. Hip and cool in their day, but so dated now as to be laughable.

Yeah, that's what I thought. To me, it looks rather messy as well. I wish I could find out who did it and see some of their other work. This is just a clutter and it looks as a Humpty Dumpty that has to be put back together again, not an vibrant successful community. My guess is it'll soon be forgotten.
