I LOVE digital cameras... as long as they are good quality [which you have got]. I agree that the element of surprise is gone but it does mean that I can capture so many more photos and just delete the ones that are rubbish. I will not even blink at taking some 100 or so photos at a time.
As for the battery life, the first thing I did was invest in a set of rechargable batteries [and a charger], as battery life is poor as the cameras are a high drain. The batteries you want to get are NiMh which are specifically for high-drain devices. They will last me a few hours, and then all I have to do is recharge them which saves LOADS of money.
Another thing that will keep your battery life up is if you don't use the LCD screen much. I use the eye lens to shoot my photos, and only switch on the screen when reviewing the photos.
Good luck with the camera.
Those tips are really cool. I'm definitely going to look out for a recharger. Sounds like the wise thing to do.
NOT using the display will be hard for me, at least in the beginning. Coming from SLR and not knowing what exactly I'm framing still feels counter intuitive – but a digital SLR wasn't withing budget, I'm afraid :-(
Still, the quality is decent enough for minor cropping afterwards and I'm under the impression that the finder is decent enough as it is for that.
I'm sure I'll get a lot out of it though and I will enjoy it very much.
;)
Oh, you're gonna carry the baby around all the time, taking too good care of her/him I'm sure. Being a over-protective parent.
All that nights you're going to stay awake now, playing, feeding and changing things....
Like being younger again!
Have fun :-)
*cough*canonite*cough* hehe. :-P
I'll try and not get onto your hunting grounds too much, lol – not too hard since we live about, what, 5,000 kms away?
cheers.
